Thinking the Un-Thinkable: Mad Cow, Alzheimers, and CJDv

Based on various articles and reports I have read over the years, I have long ago come to believe in a very real link to Alzheimer's and the human form of Mad Cow Disease which is named after the biologists that discovered the disease, Cruzenfield/Jacob, (CJD) which is believed to be due to a malformed "prion" in the brain. A prion is a protien. There is an article just out today announcing a huge new break-through in Alzheimer's research-studies. Prior to this time, there was no way to tell if a person might be susceptible to the disease, and also the only way to confirm its presence was by post-mortem autopsy. Now, based on new testing methods, cranial fluid is drawn from the spine (much like a spinal tap) and is studied for its proteins. I am not sure yet if it is the mad-cow prion/protein they are looking for, but if not, they should.
